This year we will be studying the early history of the United States from its Pre-Columbian (pre 1492) origins to the Reconstruction (1877). We will be conducting many simulations, activities, & projects in order to make history come alive for the students. There is also an emphasis on cognitive & problem solving skills through the lessons of the past. Many of course activities and requirements are patterned after and intended to help prepare students for the Ohio Graduation Exam. Students this year will also be kept up to date and exposed to current events and issues in light of America’s War on Terror, the Election of 2004, and other significant world events. Throughout the year, students will also prepare for the Washington D.C. trip. It is hoped that students will gain a greater understanding and respect for America’s past and present.
