 Topic: The Articles of Confederation  - America's First Plan of Government

 

 Today's Goal:  The During the American Revolution, the 13 states struggled to unite in order to defeat  England. 

 However, Americans feared creating a new strong central government that could potentially abuse citizens as the

 British had before the Revolution.  After writing the Declaration of Independence, the  Continental Congress create

 a plan of government which for the most part did not work.  The plan was  known as the Articles of

 Confederation.  The Articles of Confederation were a poor way to run the nation  and almost led to the

 destruction of the United States early in our history.

 Constitutional Convention has ended, it's time for the states to ratify or approve the new government.  It is also

 time to add a Bill of Rights!
